
MapsByAir is designed to allow McElhanney clients to view the availability of high resolution aerial photographs available for purchase. To get the most out of it, read through this Help guide before starting to explore.
Layers tab

MapsByAir supports a hierarchy of layers.
The layers which are checked and so selected, are displayed. You can use the + sign next to the layername to expand the layer trees.
Quick Jump tab

This tab allows you to move the center of the viewing area on a desired location. You can choose this location by two differents ways :
to select a shortcut to a specific location,
to search by address and entering the coordinates in the box X and Y
Annotate tab

In MapsByAir, it is possible to freely draw points, lines, rectangles and polygons on the map, and to attach labels to them. These features are persistent: they survive panning or zooming.
Print tab
|
MapsByAir is able to output a PDF document. You can choose in this dialog tab, the elements you want to display (scalebar, overview, query results, legend) and specify additional options (format and resolution, orientation, title, note).

Navigation interface
There are many possibilities to navigate on the main map, that is to change the scale and the position
the arrows surrounding the map;
the navigation tools (zoom and pan), which are detailed below;
the drop down menu "Scale";
the various options in the "Quick Jump" tab.
The menu "Mapsize" is self- explanatory.
The Zoom In tool allows you to focus on a specific, smaller region of the area. Click the Zoom In button and then either click the map near the center of the region you are interested in or click-and-drag a rectangle surrounding the area. The Zoom In tool can be used multiple times to move closer and closer to desired regions.
The Zoom Out tool allows you to focus on a larger area of the map than is currently displayed. Click the Zoom Out button and then click the map near the center of the larger region you are interested in. The Zoom Out tool can be used multiple times to view larger and larger regions.
The Pan Map tool allows you to move the center of the viewing area without changing the scale of the map. Click the Pan Map button and then click and drag the map image to recenter it.
The Zoom to Full Extents tool allows you to quickly reset the current map view to the entire Europe area. There is no need to click on the map to activate this tool - it is activated as soon as you click the Zoom to Full Extents button.

Distances <!-- and surfaces --> can be measured on the main map with the above tool.
